Creating this plan has been very beneficial for me to understand the complexities of classism. Although the process mostly involved finding information I was already familiar with and reiterating what I’ve learned over the course of the semester, I have to say that this was also a learning experience for me. I was able to take the information presented in class by Michelle and put it into my own words, with my own ideas intertwining the ideas of author’s we’ve studied this semester. Going through the articles with the intention of creating this action plan was a very fascinating experience for me, because it allowed me to use the ideas of others to create my own, which helped me really understand what I was writing about.
This process was fundamental in beginning my journey toward becoming an ally. Coming to college has changed me in many ways, but taking Dynamics of Oppression really put things into perspective for me in more ways than any class I’ve ever taken has. This class has helped me discover my passion for the subjects we’ve discussed. I want to promote change in our world however I possibly can, and this action plan was a fundamental part in discovering how I can accomplish my goals.
