I plan to start implementing my plan as soon as it is finished. When I go home over Christmas break, I will begin at the personal level by discussing my plan with my family and friends. I will let them read this blog, and hopefully put the realities of classism into perspective for them, as SWK225 did for me this semester.
After we return from Christmas break for the new semester, I will contact Dr. Cromwell, as well as my comrades in the class to see who is seriously interested in becoming an ally to promote change. I’m hopeful I’ll be able to work with Dr. Cromwell outside of Wheelock, as she has prompted me of places I may be of help to her own causes, as well as other related causes.
From this point on in my academic career I will make it a point to discuss my new-found knowledge whenever I can, and hopefully as I gather more allys to my cause, word will spread, eventually leading to some bigger audiences sometime in the near future.
As my academic career eventually blends into my professional career, I hope I have gained more knowledge and experience to use to let my voice be heard. My aspiration is work as a researcher in other countries, taking my research and bringing it home to America to promote multiculturalism, but most importantly, equality.
I guess you could say I don’t have a specific time frame, as I am uncertain where the future will take me, but I am sure that my passion will not fade with time, only grow as my experiences take me through the difficult journey of combating classism, and oppression in general.
